Many organisations and private individuals cooperate in the national parks. Their work is often coordinated by the Samenwerkingsverband Nationale Parken (SNP). Alongside, Staatsbosbeheer this cooperation, for example, includes Natuurmonumenten, the Provincial Landscape Authorities, the IVN Association for Environmental Education, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and private landowners. Furthermore, organisations including ANWB (Dutch Auomobile Association) and the Outdoors and Handicapped Foundation are active members of the SNP who intend to make nature reserves more appealing and accessible.
Task
Staatsbosbeheer works as a site manager at fifteen national parks. This task is entirely in line with what Staatsbosbeheer does for the Netherlands and for nature. The organisation wishes to maintain the largest possible variety of Dutch ecosystems and landscapes now and for future generations.
Nature preservation, restoration and development go hand-in-hand. Cooperation with other organisations provides additional options for improving sites and making them accessible.
Man and nature
Staatsbosbeheer works on bringing people and nature together. All national parks pay special attention to recreation and education. Walks, visitors’ centres and excursions can be found at every park.
The national parks therefore offer everyone the opportunity to visit and enjoy the most beautiful, characteristic Dutch nature reserves.
