Staatsbosbeheer is the main contractor for the LIFE dunes project and carries out the majority of the activities. For the supporting activities we collaborate with four partners who all contribute to the project financially.
Wetterskip Fryslân is the regional water board in the province of Friesland, which includes Terschelling and Vlieland. This independent water board manages the level and quality of water in Friesland. Wetterskip Fryslân supports the LIFE dune project with the restoration of the natural soil hydrology of Terschelling.
The Waddenvereniging (Wadden Sea Society) protects nature in the Dutch part of the Wadden Sea. Furthermore, it provides education and information on this area. The society participates in the LIFE dune project's advisory committee and provides publicity, among other things in its magazine the 'Waddenbulletin' and on its website.
The Stichting Duinbehoud (Dutch Society for Dune Conservation) protects nature in all the Netherlands' dune areas. Its role in the LIFE dune project is comparable to that of the Waddenvereniging: generating publicity, participating in the project team and the advisory committee.
The Bureau Beheer Landbouwgronden [Agricultural Land Management Agency] is part of the Dienst Landelijk Gebied [Rural Areas Office] of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The agency checks the sale and purchase of land for new nature reserves, for the improvement of agriculture and for other public objectives. The agency negotiates the buying off of land leases and the buying up of lease rights from tenant farmers on Terschelling for Staatsbosbeheer.
